How is minifying different from formatting?+

Formatting adds readable indentation and line breaks. Minifying removes all unnecessary whitespace to produce the smallest valid JSON string.

Will minified JSON parse the same as the original?+

Yes. Parsers treat minified and pretty-printed JSON identically. Only bytes on the wire change.

Can I minify JSON with comments?+

No. Standard JSON does not support comments. Strip comments before minifying, or use a format like JSONC with a dedicated parser.

Should I minify JSON sent over HTTPS?+

Whitespace savings help with large payloads and logging costs. For small API bodies the difference is negligible — minify when size or readability in transit matters.

Is there a size limit?+

Inputs up to 5 MB are supported, the same limit as the formatter and validator.
